A combobulated conundrum, are my paintings art? BI’ + Art = BIA’rt. Picture a world where art transcends the ordinary—that's the essence of Brain Injury Art. It’s inclusive, not elitist; a real supportive community, even if you might hesitate to join. It’s practical and fun, rooted in the Japanese concept of Ba', which is a shared space for nurturing relationships and new knowledge. Art, writing, exercise, and bone-conducted music became my healing allies for a damaged brain. They helped me walk again after being paralysed on the left side. Today, I’m not 'cured,' but my mind and mental health remain resilient, creative, and cathartic. Neurons degenerated, disintegrated, and eventually died. But art created alternative neuron pathways — new connections and it helped my brain find its way. I mean art, not just colouring in! Stretching the brain.
