My art is influenced by Ba’ - a Japanese concept, a shared collaboration space where ‘knew’ knowledge is created. This site was designed by a brain injury survivor. This ‘practical’ element cannot be taught, you cannot teach or simulate a brain injury. I must stress this. The concept of ba was originally proposed by Japanese philosopher Kitaro Nishida and further developed by Shimizu. Ba is a context, which harbours meaning. Ba can be considered as a shared space that serves as a foundation for knowledge creation. I learn from my classmates, their advise, their opinions influence me, I watch them as they paint and learn from them
